FAQ › Training › answer 3

What is the nature of the circuit training and is it suitable for beginners?

The nature of the circuit training constitutes the appropriate proportion of exercise and rest intervals and obviously combining exercises so as to make muscles work proportionally. This kind of training is utilized for beginning athletes to adapt organism to exercise (in later stages circuit training is usually modified to a large extent). It is important to make muscles work alternately but in case of advanced athletes the above rule does not apply as the structure of the training is subordinate to the objectives of the training. Generally speaking it is about deciding on a prescribed circuit of 10-12 exercises separated by rest periods.

For beginners – the choice of exercises should involve all muscle parts and appropriate proportions of exercises for particular muscle groups (taking into consideration muscle trainability – its reactivity to training stimulus). Intensity enabling to perform more than 14-16 repetitions.

For intermediate and advanced athletes - bracket of power (that is to be improved by means of circuit training) has to be determined – it mostly applies to athletes for whom circuit training is an additional one. After having determined these brackets - exercises and intensity are determined.
