FAQ › Training › answer 6What influence does the BMI have on motoric skills of a human? BMI that is Body Mass Index measures the degree of fat in organism. At the moment this index is quite old fashioned as there are much better methods determining general composition of the body. BMI does not work with training athletes and does not take into consideration body built type etc. The influence on motoric parameters is only assumptive. Assumptive because there is a strong correlation of the fat and the level of motoric skills e.g. if on the basis of BMI the person is diagnosed as being overweight then it might be assumed that their level of motoric skills is not high which is not always the case e.g. picnic H Type with high density of muscles BMI will estimate that this person is obese and in fact this person can be slim with highly developed motoric parameters e.g. martial arts athlete, bodybuilder etc.. Generally speaking, we can say that along with increase of BMI the level of motoric parameters decreases unless the person is an athlete. Orma |
